50-year career in construction at Keepmoat for John

A career in the construction industry has proven to be ideal for Keepmoat Homes’ senior site manager John Doran, who has just celebrated a 50-year anniversary at the company at an event with over 40 current and former workmates.

The longest-serving member of staff at the organisation started life there at the age of 15, when he joined as an apprentice joiner in 1967 at Keepmoat’s Wath upon Dearne office in West Yorkshire.

From that modest start, John was promoted to site manager in 1989 and he has reached this landmark occasion in the role of senior site manager, for which his wealth of experience over the years is a crucial element.

John says of his five decades with the company: “I’ve loved every minute of working at Keepmoat Homes, it’s been a great place to learn the trade and I’ve worked with some fantastic people along the way. One thing that has always stood out at Keepmoat Homes is how supportive and helpful everyone is. I’ve always valued the amount of trust that was put in me when I was promoted to site manager and I’m grateful for the opportunities that opened up for me over the years.”

Peter Hindley, COO of Keepmoat Homes, says of John’s celebration: “What an incredible achievement! I’ve had the privilege of working with John for over 30 of his 50 years with Keepmoat Homes and on behalf of everyone – I’d like to not only congratulate John but thank him for the many years of hard work and dedication to the company. John is well-liked and respected and has become an invaluable member of the team.

“The changes John will have witnessed in the industry since he first started 50 years ago will be unbelievable, as well as the progression of Keepmoat Homes as a company from regional operator to national player. However, John has taken all these changes in his stride and there is nobody more deserving of the role as senior site manager.”
