Specialist Recruitment Consultancy Launched for Housebuilding Industry

HouseBuilding Jobs (HBJ) may be a new kid on the careers block, but its founders have plenty of industry experience. Managing partner Darren Moore answers the questions

What made you launch HouseBuilding Jobs?
We felt there was a need for a fresh approach to the high demand for staff at all levels across housebuilding and its supply chain. Founders Ian Dobrin and myself have, between us, more than 50 years’ experience in the property recruitment arena and, with the uncertainty of Brexit finally behind us and the expected growth in new homes development over the next few years, it seemed the perfect time to launch HBJ.

Why housebuilding?
We love the industry; the diversity of roles and opportunities it offers people of all ages and backgrounds. The housebuilding industry is like a family and our aim is to become part of that vibrant and creative marketplace. The skills shortage and the recruitment of young people are the biggest issues facing the housebuilding community and yet the industry offers enviable and sustainable career paths across a diverse range of job roles. We also want to help foster a step change in how the industry is perceived by the wider public, creating an inclusive environment to work in. Ian Dobrin and I are both very sociable characters; we love networking and at the end of the day that is what good recruitment is all about – being connected and in touch with great candidates and great employers.

How is business?
We have only just launched, but It has been amazing speaking to so many potential clients and candidates already. What is most satisfying is when you receive a personal recommendation from one of our long-standing connections. Ian and I have excellent industry contacts and relationships across all sectors and it has become very apparent that the services of a traditional and professional recruitment consultancy, dedicated to housebuilding and the new build supply chain, can help not only build careers and nurture young talent, but raise the profile and reputation of such a hugely important industry, vital to the nation’s economy and well-being.

What level of candidates are you recruiting?
We will recruit white collar staff at all levels from junior/apprentices to senior level across all areas of housebuilding including sales, land, architecture, finance and administration. What type of recruitment services do you offer? As a specialist consultancy we offer a range of services that include a full 360-degree contingent approach, retained and a headhunting service for boardroom and executive level.

What advice would you give the business owners and managers out there?
Get in touch, talk to us. We will work as your partner to find the ideal long-term fit for your business.
