About us

We are Churchill Retirement PLC, the fastest growing company in the UK retirement house building sector and we’re looking for people like you.

We’re a family-run, privately-owned business and we’re going places. We’re proud of what we do, and the people we work with. We have ambitious growth plans for the future, now employing 500 people and growing all the time.

We pride ourselves on building beautiful, quality, purpose-built one and two bedroom apartments in desirable locations across the UK for those looking for an independent lifestyle in later life. Developments are designed to take away all the hassle and fears that can be experienced by older people and provide security, peace of mind and independence.

We’ve won a host of awards; most recently we have been recognised by The Sunday Times as the 2nd  Best Company To Work For and in 2016, we became the first ever retirement living specialist to have been named overall ‘Housebuilder of the Year’ by the WhatHouse? Awards.

About the role

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to work alongside the commercial team supporting our South West region, based at our stunning Head Office in Ringwood.

With the support of the Commercial Director, you’ll manage the entire financial cycle of two to three contracts, from the preparation of anticipated build costs through to the procurement, payment and final evaluation of subcontractors. You may also have supervisory and training responsibility for junior members of the team.

It’s a great role for those who love autonomy and exposure, as you’ll have the opportunity to work with a variety of key internal stakeholders from the Land Team through to the Managing Director.   You’ll also be working with our external contractors, suppliers and consultants; agreeing trading terms and contract negotiations.

There’ll be considerable financial work in most aspects of the role, with sole responsibility for producing a monthly forecast report for the Board, as well as the usual budget preparation, scheduling and estimates.

Hours of work are 9.00am - 5.30pm Monday to Thursday and 9.00am – 5.00pm on Friday.

You’ll make at least one visit to your sites per week and some additional overtime may be required to meet your targets.

About you

You’ll have a background in Construction, with a wealth of previous experience as a Surveyor, preferably in residential development.

You’ll hold the HNC or HND qualification and we’d prefer it if you were a member of a professional body such as RICS or MCIOB.  It goes without saying that you’ll be comfortable understanding architect drawings, specification documents and the relevant terminology.  Previous experience of using COINS would be very advantageous.

It’s important that you’re a commercially astute negotiator and have experience in measuring drawings, preparing bills of quantities and other standard surveying techniques.  Comfortable working independently and collaboratively with a wide range of responsibility, you’ll have huge self motivation and the ability to prioritise your workload.

How you’ll be rewarded

  • Competitive salary
  • Company car provision or cash for car alternative
  • Annual holiday entitlement - 24 days minimum + Bank Holidays
  • Group Personal Pension Plan
  • Life Assurance
  • Private Medical Insurance
  • Day off on your birthday
  • Health Screening
  • Eye Care Reimbursement Scheme
  • Land Introduction Bonus
