Home Group and Grain team up to help tenants access broadband

Residents in future Home Group properties will benefit from access to the UK’s fastest fibre broadband thanks to an agreement with hyperfast broadband provider Grain Connect.

Home Group customers and homeowners will be able to take advantage of the relationship between Grain and the housing association by accessing fibre broadband connections direct to their new properties.

Home Group is one of the UK’s largest providers of social housing and are committed to providing access to high quality housing. As part of a national agreement Grain will install fibre broadband and routers into each of the properties as they are being built, allowing residents to access the service the minute they move in.

Some of the first areas to be connected include Home Group projects in Glasgow and Carlisle. Customers will be able to access a free trial of the fibre service before having access to an exclusive package. In addition, Home Group and Grain will also be offering free connections to those who struggle to access broadband, which is extremely important, especially in these times when digital inclusion presents such a prominent part of our lives.

Rich Robinson, Managing Director of Grain Connect, said of the Home Group partnership, said: “We’re very excited to take our relationship with Home Group forward in a way which is going to benefit thousands of customers. Fast, reliable and cost-effective broadband is in demand more than ever before due to home working, schooling and generally spending more time indoors. We are pleased that the customers of Home Group will be able to access the fastest speeds at great prices.”

Mike Westgarth, Head of Procurement and Programme at Home Group added: “We’re delighted to be working with Grain to bring hyperfast fibre-to-property broadband to our new build properties with customers able to get online on the day that they move in. Access to the internet is something that many of us take for granted but for those who can’t get online, paying bills, searching for jobs and keeping in touch with family and friends is much more difficult. Through this relationship with Grain we’re hoping to help some of our customers to bridge this digital divide.”
