Course description
The programme is designed to meet the demand within the Construction Management industry with advanced skills. The programme provides the opportunity for students to develop deep knowledge and understanding in different areas of Construction Management. The aim is to develop training specialists on how to manage multidisciplinary organisation in construction industry from different perspective such as client, contractor, designer, and supplier. The programme is aiming to develop management skills and a critically reflective practice on construction. Applying theory into practice in the field of construction industry is the main idea behind the course. Enable candidate to maximise their management skills and capability to work in an international environment. To maximise students’ demonstration, different range of skills and knowledge in the area of construction and engineering such as project management, Information Communication technology, Construction law, Supply chain management, Procurement.
This course is also available as a two year masters with an industrial placement year. The embedded industrial placement offers a unique opportunity to apply the skills learnt on real engineering real-life projects.
How you’ll learn
The programme is supported by an integrated teaching, learning and assessment strategy that demonstrates the appropriateness of the learning, teaching and assessment methods used in relation to the intended learning outcomes. The following methods are adopted:

Students will become proficient in communicating ideas to a technical and non-technical audience. The programme will help students to think laterally, to solve problems in a structured logical way.
The proposed extension of coursework components to most modules will strengthen the learning strategy by providing opportunities for the students to enhance their critical thinking skills to evaluate different management and engineering solutions and adjust their plans in a changing environment. The aim is to enable students to deal the evolving and open-ended nature of managing projects in the real world. The coursework assignments will require students to use their creativity, management and engineering judgement, applied management skills acquired during their current course plus skills in team working and communication.
About the industrial placement year
This course is also available as a two year masters with an industrial placement year. The industrial placement is designed to address the demands of the profession and give students a competitive edge when it comes to their career. The placement component is up to 12 months in duration, which starts after you have successfully completed the taught modules, and before the dissertation stage.
It is ultimately the student’s responsibility to secure their placement. The University will offer guidance and support and recommend students to many of our industrial partners that have expressed strong support and interest in the programme.
If you are an international student on a Tier 4 visa, your CAS will have a course duration of two years, subject to your meeting the UKVI’s standard requirements. During the industrial placement period, you undertake an internship within a partner organisation and complete a zero-credit Industrial Placement Module. The criteria for progression to industrial placement is the successful completion of the MSc taught modules with minimum 50% pass mark.
Entry requirements
We would normally expect you to have Grade C in GCSE English and Maths.
Minimum 2.2 Honours in any Construction related subject, Law and Business Management
English Language Requirements
Overall IELTS 6.0 overall with minimum 6.0 in writing and speaking, and 5.5 in listening and reading(or recognised equivalent)
