Construction and the Built Environment Level 3

Course description

Successful completion of the Subsidiary level 3 Diploma will enable students to progress in the first instance onto year two of Btec Level 3 Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment or for mature students returning to education and using this qualification as a bridge course they can progress to HNC/HND programmes in Construction.

Successful completion of the Subsidiary level 3 Diploma will enable students to progress in the first instance onto year two of Btec Level 3 Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment or for mature students returning to education and using this qualification as a bridge course they can progress to HNC/HND programmes in Construction.

The course consists of 12  units.

In the first year the following units will be completed:

  • Health, Safety and Welfare in Construction and the Built Environment
  • Sustainable Construction
  • Mathematics in Construction and the Built Environment
  • Science and Materials in Construction and the Built Environment
  • Construction Technology and Design in Construction and Civil Engineering
  • Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD).

Entry requirements

  •  GCSEs at Grade 4 (C) or above in Maths and English
  • Applicants will need to complete initial and diagnostic assessments in Maths and English
  • 19 years + students, without the required GCSE’s, will need to achieve Level 2 at initial assessment
  • Show good motivation and attitude towards learning
  • It is also important that you have an interest in this dynamic industry, that you have a lively and enquiring mind, an interest in the sector, a willingness to explore new ideas and the ability to communicate your ideas.
