We take our weekly look at some of the appointments and promotions across the housebuilding industry and its supply chain.

Alasdair Ritchie, Ascent Homes

Alasdair Ritchie of Ascent Homes Northumberland-based Ascent Homes has brought in Alasdair Ritchie as a graduate development surveyor. Leaving Northumbria University with a degree in planning and development surveying, he comes to his new role with experience gained at another housebuilder to work on planning applications and securing new land for future developments.

 

Multiple appointments, Muse Developments

Matt Crompton,of Muse DevelopmentsWith Nigel Franklin retiring from the position, Matt Crompton (pictured) has become the sole managing director of Muse Developments. They had been joint MDs since 2006. North West director Phil Mayall and Southern counterpart Mike Auger join the board, while residential development director Duncan Cumberland moves up to the management team.

 

Three appointments, Galliford Try

Paul Ellisdon, Lorraine Casey and Michael Hodson of Galliford TryThe London division of regeneration specialist Galliford Try Partnerships has seen three staff promotions to associate director positions. Paul Ellisdon has been promoted to associate financial director; Lorraine Casey has been promoted to associate director of pre-construction; and Michael Hodson is now associate director of design.

 

Martyn Headley, Clancy Consulting

Martyn Headley of Clancy ConsultingClancy Consulting has a new chief executive. Martyn Headley has been with Clancy since 1991 and has acted as the lead consultant for a number of multi-disciplinary projects. He will now, while still based in Manchester, oversee all departments across 10 offices. He replaces Alan Bramwell, who retires after 37 years at the company, 15 of them as chief executive.

 

Neil MacKay, Spitfire Bespoke Homes

Neil MacKay of Spitfire Bespoke HomesNeil MacKay has been appointed as technical director for the Midlands region of Spitfire Bespoke Homes, leading a team of six from the office in Coleshill, Warwickshire. His 13 years in the industry includes time on both the consultant and client side for Taylor Wimpey, and as technical manager for Miller Homes, where he helped set up its Worcester office.

 

Chris Jones, Iceni Projects

Chris Jones of Iceni ProjectsChris Jones has been appointed a director for the Manchester office of planning consultancy Iceni Projects. He joins from NJL Consulting where he was a director for 10 years, providing planning advice for clients including Henry Boot Developments and Countryside. He has experience in mixed-use, logistics, office and residential development.

 

Anthony Mackle, Newby

Anthony Mackle of NewbyRipon-based developer Newby has appointed Anthony Mackle as its director of sales and marketing, covering a wide variety of projects across Yorkshire. Living in Harrogate, the 39-year-old’s career includes 10 years of service at Urban Splash, roles at CITU and The Parklane Group and most recently as sales director at Step Places.

 

John Acres, LPDF

John Acres of LPDFJohn Acres has been appointed policy director (part-time) by industry body, the Land Promoters and Developers Federation (LPDF). He has worked in planning for 47 years, which includes times with the HBF, Redrow and Catesby Property Group. He served as President of the Royal Town Planning Institute for a year, standing down in January 2019.

 

Cassie Burgess-Rose, Howarth Litchfield

Cassie Burgess-Rose of Howarth LitchfieldArchitects Howarth Litchfield have appointed new architect Cassie Burgess-Rose to its team, bringing with her experience in BIM technology and wide-ranging design experience. Managing director, Jonathan Yates, said: “She is an exciting and talented architect and we are very much looking forward to helping her further develop her expertise.”

 

Multiple appointments, JS Wright

Phil Leech and Marcus Aniol of JS WrightThere have been a series of moves at senior level at building services contractor JS Wright. Marcus Aniol moves to the role of chairman, with his position as managing director taken over by Phil Leech, currently national mechanical contracts director, on 1st May. Responsibility for mechanical contracts will move to associate directors Matt Coy and John Heggs.

 

Neil Hand, Hankinson

Neil Hand, managing director of HankinsonNeil Hand has moved from his job as managing director of Novus Property Solutions to the role of MD of painting contractor Hankinson. Owner Stephen Hankinson has moved from chief executive to chairman and said: “His calibre and experience for this important role reflects the ambitions of the Hankinson Group.”

 

Two appointments, Brodies

Elaine Farquharson-Black of BrodiesThe Aberdeen office of law firm Brodies has appointed a new partner to head its housebuilding and planning teams. Elaine Farquharson-Black joins from Burness Paull where she was head of both its planning division and property and infrastructure department. It has also brought in Bryan Wilson as partner of its oil and gas expertise.
