We take our weekly look at some of the appointments and promotions across the housebuilding industry and its supply chain.
Kathryn Pennington, Galliford Try Partnerships
Kathryn Pennington has been promoted to the role of new projects director by Galliford Try Partnerships. Her previous role was development director for Partnerships’ West Business Unit in Bristol. She will now be working with the senior leadership team, including chief executive Stephen Teagle and business development and investment director Clare Crawford.
Sophie Price, Lovell
Sophie Price as been appointed to the sales team at its Keepers Gate development in Weston-super-Mare by developer Lovell. Having lived in Bristol and Portishead and working for eight years at an estate agent as a branch manager and a lettings manager, she brings in-depth knowledge of the local area to the role of sales executive.
Two appointments, Ibstock
Ibstock has made two major appointments. Annette Forster is named as group marketing director at Ibstock plc and joins the executive leadership team, having served as marketing director at Wienerberger UK. Michael McGowan has been appointed group sustainability manager following a role as quality, environmental & energy manager at Ibstock Brick.
Mike Nelson, Storey Homes
Milton Keynes-based homebuilder Storey Homes has brought in Mike Nelson as its new construction director. Starting as a carpenter, he moved into construction and has worked in the industry for over 30 years, with senior roles in project management at high-profile companies such as Berkeley Homes, Ashwell Property Group and Durkan.
Two appointments, FirstPort
The HR team at FirstPort has welcomed two new team members. Emma Smith has joined as head of talent, bringing with her experience from Tesco and more recently, Camelot, and Craig Rowe has been appointed as head of HR following positions at disability charity Scope and restaurant chains Benugo, Cosmo and Wagamama.
Maggie White, Miller Homes
Miller Homes has a new development sales manager at its The Beeches development in Bracklesham Bay West Sussex. Maggie White has four years’ experience in the housebuilding industry, overseeing sales at several developments in the southern region and will be guiding house-hunters through the home buying journey. She said: “I’m thrilled to be joining the Miller Homes team.”
Three appointments, Home Group
Home Group has appointed three new members to its Scotland board. Bob McDougall has worked in various roles within local government; Annie Mauger-Thompson is an experienced senior executive in the not-for-profit sector; and Gillian Campbell is an independent housing consultant with over 20 years’ experience working with local government and housing associations.
Victoria Williams, Persimmon Homes
The East Wales division of Persimmon Homes has a new sales director, Victoria Williams. It is the latest of four promotions since joining in 2011, rising from sales advisor to trainee sales manager to sales manager to regional head of sales in 2014. “I’m proud of my progression and hopefully this will encourage other members of staff to work hard and succeed,” she said.
Andrew Scott, Miele
Andrew Scott has been appointed development chef by domestic appliance manufacturer, Miele, with responsibility for the company’s food, cooking and experience strategy. He is a former Ramsay Scholarship finalist and has worked at L’Enclume in Cumbria, Lords of the Manor in the Cotswolds and most recently, as executive chef at Sudbury House Hotel.
Phil McDowell, Kier Construction
Phil McDowell has been promoted to operations director and joins the Board of directors for Kier Construction Scotland & North East. He joined the company in 2013 as contracts manager. Brian McQuade, managing director of Kier Construction Scotland and North East, has welcomed his promotion, saying: “He is a huge asset.”
Three appointments, Buro Four
There are two new London project directors at project management services provider Buro Four. Keith Davies has joined Buro Four from Tkei Homes, where he worked for 13 years. Kevin Tilson was previously at Gardiner & Theobald, latterly as a partner in the firm. Stuart Flaxton has been appointed to the main board as a director.
Multiple appointments, Pupil
Spatial data startup Pupil, a residential real estate technology specialist, has brought in a new six-strong business advisory board. James D. Marshall, the company’s founder and CEO, has welcomed Sanjay Jain, Jambu Palaniappan, Steve Sacks, Edgar Bronfman Jr, Anthony Browne and Lord St John of Bletso as part of the company’s growth strategy.
