Housebuilder achieves elite Investors in People Platinum

With a focus on developing, supporting and rewarding its staff, Mactaggart & Mickel Homes has become the first housebuilder in Scotland to be awarded the Investors in People Platinum accreditation – the most coveted ranking in the national scheme.

To date, only 2% of the companies accredited to the independent organisation – which equates to just 78 – have achieved this highest ranking. This housebuilder has won many awards at regional and national level, and hosts its own events to pay testament to long-standing and high-achieving workforce, with numerous members working for the company for 25 years or more across a range of disciplines.

Marion Forbes, the director at Mactaggart & Mickel Homes who oversees the housebuilder’s HR, health and safety and administration teams, is delighted to see its long-term commitment to staff welfare and development recognised: “Last year, we launched Mactaggart & Mickel & YOU – an initiative developed to bring together everything we do for our people under one banner,” she explains. “The individual elements – spanning workplace support, career development, reward & recognition, and health & safety – have been instrumental in delivering sustainable business benefits. This accolade is a testament to the success of this programme.

“We are immensely proud of our employees and their achievements and are committed to continuing to invest in initiatives that support both our business aspirations and our people’s ambitions.”

Peter Russian, chief executive of Re:markable – the organisation licensed to run the Investors in People programme in Scotland – comments: “Huge congratulations to Mactaggart & Mickel Homes on their fantastic achievement in gaining Investors in People Platinum. Alongside their Platinum award, their ongoing dedication and commitment to their people is recognised through their low staff turnover, high rates of length of service and continued growth and profitability. We look forward to continuing to work with the organisation and seeing how they evolve and enhance the fantastic programmes, initiatives and approaches which they currently have in place.”
