David swaps plates for property in career move

Even with the pedigree of working for celebrity chefs for ten years, David Bukauskas is delighted to have made his move from the restaurant industry to housebuilding with his role with Bovis Homes in the south-west of England.

David describes his position as sales advisor as the “best job I’ve ever had”, following the time he spent with the likes of Michelin-starred John Burton-Race in Dartmouth, and the acclaimed Chris and James Tanner in Plymouth.

He is now working at the Sherford development in the east of Plymouth, where he can combine his own customer-centric experience with training provided by the Bovis Homes learning and development team.

“I’m loving every single moment of it,” says David. “I enjoyed my time working for a few celebrity chefs and in four-star restaurants, but from day one this has been the best job I have ever had. The people I work with are very friendly – we’re like a family – and the regional management always do everything they can to make everyone feel they’re a big part of the Bovis Homes team.”

The Bovis scheme is part of the creation of a new ‘market town’ in Plymouth. Sherford will comprise 5,500 new homes, three new schools, a sports centre and a theatre, as well as many green open spaces across the 1,200-acre site.

“We want to deliver a positive experience for the customer and try to make sure they’re as happy as possible at every stage – that’s really important to us,” adds David. “From our initial contact with a customer, we want to keep expectations high and make sure we always deliver on our promises throughout the process.”
