Young new addition to Fairgrove Homes management team

The housebuilding industry does offer some excellent opportunities for young people, as Ilkeston-based housebuilder Fairgrove Homes recently proved by expanding their internal team through taking on 18-year-old Daniel Jones in a management trainee role.

Daniel became acquainted to the housebuilder through his college, Heanor Gate Science College and his new employer was impressed by his application and interview, leading them to offering him the position.

Daniel is really enjoying his position with the Derbyshire company. “Fairgrove is a family-run company and already I feel part of the family because everyone has been very patient with me and keen for me to learn,” he says. “The developments they are working on are really interesting – especially Hanson’s View as it involves refurbishing old properties as well as building new ones. I’m sure my role at Fairgrove will give me a brilliant introduction to the industry and I can’t wait to learn new things every day.”

The new recruit is currently being mentored by the housebuilder’s sales and marketing manager, Vanessa Gregory, is Daniel’s current mentor but his position will allow him to move around and gain experience at all of the departments in action. This includes the financial side of the company, where he can learn how Fairgrove funds its projects, through to the design and build, as well as the buyer options offered through its customisation and  upgrades policies.

Fairgrove Homes’ managing director, Steve Midgley, adds: “It’s vital for our business that we invest in new talent and from as early as his interview we recognised that Daniel’s enthusiasm would be a great asset to the Fairgrove team.”
