New Barratt developments in Bristol to create jobs as well as homes

Announcing plans for five new developments in the Bristol area, award-winning Barratt Homes will be creating not only around 700 homes for the region, but also will also underpin over 2,000 jobs.

2018 is the 60th anniversary of the national housebuilder, and Barratt Developments ambitions for new build developments remain strong, having constructed over 17,000 units in the year to 30 June 2017.

With new communities now planned for Patchway, Stonehouse, North Chippenham, Filwood and Melksham, the projects will offer a wide variety of roles which are usually taken up by nearby residents and companies.

“Wherever we build new homes, we make a point of employing local sub-contractors and tradespeople wherever possible,” says sales director Andrea Pilgrim. “And that means extra work for people and businesses in the surrounding area. Our decision to construct so many new homes is based on the response we’ve received from buyers over the past 12 months. Demand is increasing, and we’re pleased to be providing even more choice for local buyers, and for those from further afield, by opening new developments over the coming year.”

Pilgrim believes the benefits of the new homes to the local population and economy go beyond the construction phase: “It’s not only local tradespeople and homebuyers who will benefit because those who move into these new homes are likely to spend their money on goods and services from nearby businesses. It’s great news for the economy here.

“We’re keen to help even more buyers in the region take their first steps into the property market or move to a larger home, so we’ll be offering a number of schemes such as Help to Buy designed to do just that.”
