HousingAnywhere, Europe’s largest mid-to-long-term rental platform, has announced its official expansion to the UK by covering London, Manchester and Birmingham.

The Rotterdam-based company provides an easy-to-use platform where potential tenants can be matched with accommodation providers and specialises in mid-to-long-term rentals with international mobility at the forefront of its functionality, ideal for students and young professionals. HousingAnywhere offers solely online viewings to provide fair access for all prospective tenants regardless of their location, while also allowing tenants to specify moving dates and providing a 48-hour warranty system.

In 2021/2022, there were almost three million students at UK higher education institutions with a record number of applicants applying to study in 2020, 2021 and 2022 according to UCAS. HousingAnywhere data reveals that searches on the platform for accommodation in London have been growing considerably over the last few years, rising by 37.7% in 2022 compared to the previous year, and have continued to grow by 37.9% in the first quarter of 2023.

Birmingham and Manchester both have a high concentration of universities, along with a healthy housing development pipeline, and HousingAnywhere aims to provide a technologically-advanced solution to both landlords and tenants in these cities.

Djordy Seelmann, CEO of HousingAnywhere, said: “Entering the UK was clearly the next step for HousingAnywhere, as we aim to match the rising demand of internationally-mobile students, young professionals and expats in London, Manchester and Birmingham. With this expansion, we are enabling people to safely find a new home not only in mainland Europe but also in the UK and in more corners of the world.”

As well as entering the UK market, HousingAnywhere has also announced its expansion into key US cities, following a post-pandemic boom in rental demand and student accommodation in New York, Los Angeles, Boston and Chicago. The latest expansion means that the company now operates in over 125 cities around the world.
