Multi-utility provider Core Utility Solutions has been awarded a £420,000 contract by Persimmon to provide the infrastructure for 150 new homes in Stockport. The contract will see Core install the mains infrastructure for gas, electricity and water on the 17,412 square metre scheme at Styal Road in the town's Heald Green.
Iain Stringer, Sales Manager of Core said: "We are delighted to be working with Persimmon on this development. We have a strong relationship with the housebuilder and it is always rewarding to win repeat contracts with them."
This is the latest in a line of multi-utility contracts which Core has been awarded by Persimmon. Others include West Derby's Waterpark Drive and High Whitehill Road in East Kilbride.
The Styal Road development is situated on the flight path for Manchester Airport, which may mean Core's team will have to gain approval for the use of certain equipment and give the airport notice when certain works will be carried out. It is hoped the first homes will be ready for buyers to move into by the end of 2008.

Brass & Traditional Sinks and The Eclectica Partnership, have been sold to entrepreneur Stephen Thompson for an undisclosed sum.
Founders and previous owners, Richard and Sarah Tyzack have been retained as consultants for the next 12 months to ensure a smooth transition of ownership.
The Tyzack's decision to sell the two extremely successful businesses may come as a surprise to those who know them, but, says Richard Tyzack, it is time for a change. "I have worked within the kitchens and bathrooms industry for 23 years and it has quite simply come to the point where I want to embrace new experiences outside of kitchens and bathrooms."
Stephen Thompson has a commercial tableware and cutlery business, Camel Tableware, which, among others, supplies P&O ferries, the NHS, Pizza Express, ASK and Zizi restaurants.
"The synergy between Camel Tableware and Richard and Sarah's business was very appealing. I'm really looking forward to getting my teeth into this industry, but I do want to stress that for our customers it is very much business as usual, " said Thompson.

Drew Smith has selected Koramic's low-pitch Actua clay roof tile for two new residential developments in Kings Worthy, Hampshire.
The Actua aims to provide a practical and aesthetically viable alternative to slate, as well as offering the lowest pitch of any clay roof tile in the UK.Tony Gash, surveyor at Drew Smith said: "Given the low pitch, our first thought was to use a concrete tile. However, this wasn't permitted by the local planning department who specified a more natural product that was in keeping with the local area and surrounding architecture."
It is available in seven different colours, including natural red, multiblend, burgundy, brown, grey and champagne.
"We've been really impressed by the overall appearance of the roof," says Gash. "The curving edge has ensured a high quality finish. Plus, the colour and shape of the tile makes it look very similar to slate which was what we originally specified."

Shower manufacturer Roman has raised over £5,000 for two of its local charities by completing a challenge to walk Hadrian's Wall, coast to coast.
The company's chosen charities are Darlington and District Samaritans and St Teresa's Hospice, and Roman is aiming to raise around £10,000 for both throughout 2008, via a series of different events.Andrew Bowerbank, Data Analyst at Roman, said: "We have been planning this charity event for several months now, but nobody could have predicted the weather we faced along the way. It certainly made the hike much more interesting! Throughout the hike one team-mate was struck down with illness and another with a knee injury, but we all pulled together and battled on to finish as a team."
The 84-mile hike took five days to complete, with the 12-strong team starting out on Easter Thursday and finishing on Easter Monday. Although there were some injuries along the way, all managed to complete the full walk.

Vaillant's solar domestic hot water system has been chosen by the Ministry of Defence's establishment in Dorset.
Following a successful tender, Dave Dodd of Southern Piped Services Ltd recommended a solar installation. "We use Vaillant products a lot and have completed several solar installations using their system. It seemed appropriate to make this recommendation to the MoD, and they were keen to pursue it."Vaillant say the auroTHERM VFK 900 flat plate collector, with ultrasonically-welded copper absorbers and 60 millimetre insulation on the rear and sides for enhanced efficiency, has a solar glass transmission of nine per cent; with extra tough glass for increased robustness and an overall size of 1160 x 1930 x 110 millimetres. The collectors are remarkably low in weight for their type, at just 43 kilograms. The flat plate collectors also carry a ten-year warranty.
The solar DHW system can provide around 50 to 60 per cent of annual domestic hot water requirements. It uses indirect solar radiation, not just direct sunlight, meaning that it will work as efficiently in the UK as it does in other countries with similar climates. The solar control system has a built-in intelligence allowing it to automatically switch from solar to conventional power when needed.
Vaillant's solar domestic hot water system aims to ensure hot water comfort, help reduce fuel bills, add value to a property and provide a positive benefit to the environment because it reduces CO2 emissions.
