The first collection of bluestone bathrooms was officially launched at KBB 2008, and it aspires to challenge conventions and commit to producing furniture that is distinct, yet flexible.

Modular, wall-hung construction give a 'floating' appearance that blurs the boundaries between the bathroom and the rest of the home.

Functionality, simplicity and form aim to be the four guiding principles behind the new collection. The result is the creation of smooth ceramic and glass curves, contrasted against the crisp edged cabinets and brassware.

Earthwool loft insulation is made using recycled glass and sustainable materials, and aims to target the eco-friendly homeowner.

Made using a high recycled glass content, Earthwool appeals to homeowner's with an environmental conscience, and glasswool has been independently assessed as being one of the most sustainable types of insulation available.

thinkinsulation.com, an eco-website endorsed by the Energy Saving Trust, says that only 30 per cent of UK households have loft insulation over 150 millimetres in thickness, although government standards now recommend 270mm. This lets heat escape unnecessarily through the roofs of over 14 million homes each day.

Earthwool endevours to make a house more comfortable to live in - cooler in summer and warmer in winter, and it will also upgrade a home's Energy Performance Certificate rating in the now compulsory Home Information Packs.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) is set to launch the new KX6 Compact to hopefully provide a cost-effective, energy-efficient VRF system for smaller installations.

The KX6 Compact outdoor unit is reduced in size from the outgoing KX4. Each of the 4, 5, and 6 hp (12, 14, and 16 kW) outdoor units requires only one single side fan. They are available in single- or three-phase, all with dimensions of just 970 x 370 x 845 millimetres.

The whole Mitsubishi Heavy Industries KX6 Compact solution allows far greater flexibility in installation than the previous system. In addition to larger permissible pipe-runs between indoor units, the maximum height difference from indoor-indoor unit is up from four to 15 metres. And the maximum connectable capacity is up from 130 per cent to 150 per cent - that means that the 14 kilo watts system can serve up to 21 kilo watts of indoor units.
