Bovis Homes has strengthened its sales team with the appointment of Claire Gilligan as area sales manager for the North West.Working with area sales director, Lynton Dudgeon, Gilligan will take responsibility for the day to day management of seven sites across the North West region including the sales teams based out on site.
In her new role, Claire will set-up and maintain efficient reporting procedures to ensure sales leads and sales administration are dealt with to maximum effect along with planning and coordinating new showhomes and sales offices at developments across the North West.
With a 14-year career in marketing, including five years at Bovis Homes in a marketing role, Claire is well placed to use her past experience and in-depth knowledge of the company to achieve her goals.
Commenting on her appointment, she says: "I always enjoyed the sales aspect of my previous role and am therefore excited to be taking more of an active responsibility for sales on site. I am confident that I can use my marketing experience to successfully lead the on site sales teams to achieve improved levels of interest in our developments and secure more reservations."
Kate Burrow, sales and marketing director at Bovis Homes (Northern), comments: "Claire has already demonstrated strong marketing abilities and has an aptitude for sales. This is a great move for her and I know that she will be an asset to the sales team and a great link between head office and those based out on site."
Nick Towe has been handed the task of getting the new regional division of McInerney Homes off the ground in the dual role of land director and general manager for the South West.
Once established, he will put together a team of up to 25 staff and is already scouring the region for a potential HQ for the division.
"This is an exciting challenge," said Towe, who has worked for national homebuilders such as Miller Homes, Charles Church and Alfred McAlpine.
"It is a very big step for McInerney Homes and we feel the time is right to expand into the South West. I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to make it a great success."
Towe launched his own estate agency in the Bristol area and went on to have five offices. He sold the business in 1993 before going onto join Beaufort Homes, followed by Alfred McAlpine.
Regeneration development company The Compendium Group has appointed Wendy Lister as regeneration officer.
Lister joins Compendium from social purpose housing and regeneration company, the Riverside Group, where she was community investment officer for the Hawthorn Fields PFI project at West Bromwich in the West Midlands.
In her new role, Lister is based at Weston Coyney, Stoke-on-Trent, where Compendium is delivering a £55 million regeneration programme commissioned by RENEW North Staffordshire. Compendium is creating the new Weston Heights development at Weston Coyney, building 283 new homes for rent, shared ownership and sale as well as refurbishing existing houses, creating new community facilities and undertaking a range of other regeneration initiatives.
Lister has worked in the regeneration field for ten years, holding a number of positions with the Riverside Group, including working as regeneration officer. In her new role with Compendium, she will co-ordinate community-based projects and information events and ensure that local residents, tenants and community groups are fully involved in the regeneration process.
Leicestershire Business of the Year 2008, Westleigh Developments Ltd has appointed two new site managers to work on projects across the firm's Partnership and New Homes divisions in Loughborough.
Mark Hickling joins Whetstone-based Westleigh as site manager and Phil Smith has been appointed as assistant site manager.
Chris Beighton, managing director at Westleigh commented, "Both Mark and Phil have gained invaluable experience in the construction industry prior to joining Westleigh something which will, I am sure, enable them to effectively and efficiently manage each of their developments and I wish them every success in their future career with the company."
Hickling has re-joined Westleigh as site manager at its Church Place development in Loughborough, following a break from the industry. Smith has recently embarked upon his role as assistant site manager at Westleigh's Empress Road development in Loughborough following over 15 years spent as a carpenter.
Davies Arnold Cooper have appointed Helen Meyler, Campbell Hooper's former head of real estate, to join their real estate team.
Meyler was a partner and board member at Campbell Hooper for 15 years, where she built up the firm's profile and reputation, particularly in the property world. She has a wealth of experience in commercial and residential development, including regeneration and mixed-use schemes, acting for and with both the private and public sectors. Recent projects include English Partnership's London Wide Initiative, providing over 1,000 affordable homes across London, where she was representing Countryside, and a 750 unit scheme at Ebbsfleet in the Thames Gateway, a joint venture between Land Securities and Countryside.
Commenting on Helen's appointment, Robert Lee, head of real estate at Davies Arnold Cooper, said: "The experience and knowledge that Helen brings to the residential team will be invaluable. Her expertise will not only strengthen the service that we offer our current clients, but will broaden our client base in the regeneration and residential sectors."
Colin Campbell joins the Cambridge based Savills team as Associate Director with 19 years experience in development planning in the private and public sectors.Before joining Savills, he was Principal Planning Manager at Ashwell PLC, a Cambridge based property development and investment company. There he was involved in a number of major projects ranging from urban regeneration projects, through to green belt releases and major urban extensions.
Prior to joining Ashwell, Campbell was Head of Regional Planning at the
Government Office for the East of England. He led the Government's input to the preparation and examination of the draft East of England Plan and also held the post of Head of Development Plans at GO-East. He was also responsible for leading the Government's input into reviewing the Cambridge Green Belt and the options for delivering a new settlement in the Cambridge sub-region.
Regeneration company, Acorn, has taken on an experienced new development manager to oversee its portfolio.
Nick Lavender, formerly the development manager for Macdonald Egan Developments plc, will be looking closely at Acorn's projects in Essex, particularly the regeneration within Southend, and is set to extend his attention to London-based developments and the regeneration of the Cornish holiday resorts of Newquay and Falmouth.
He said: "I've been in construction and development for 24 years and I really enjoy it, but one of the difficulties of the business is trying to find the right company to work for.
"In the past I've often admired Acorn projects without even realising at first that they were Acorn developments and I like the leadership style - dynamic yet relaxed."
A chartered quantity surveyor, he has a varied work history - managing developments from concept to completion and dealing with schemes ranging in value from £100,000 to £100 million.
Property adviser DTZ has appointed residential specialist Russell Taylor to join the team. He will join DTZ as a director and become involved across all areas of the residential business, with a particular focus on land development, agency and investment.
Taylor, who has been with Savills for over 20 years is widely acknowledged as the Docklands expert handling Residential led mixed-use developments, consultancy and investment. More recently, he has used this experience in other parts of the country having been based for the last few years in Savills Central London team in Berkeley Square.
Peter Braithwaite, DTZ's residential chairman commented "This is a great appointment for us and looks to the future and development of our entire residential practice. Our existing residential business is already a market leader in many areas but we have punched below our weight in terms of market awareness and this will enable us to broaden our client base and increase our market presence. I am delighted that Russell who is clearly a leading figure has decided to join us and take on this exciting role".
Margaret Davidson has recently joined Charles Church Scotland as field sales manager. She has worked in the Scottish property market, for over 18 years.
Davidson, who previously worked for Gladedale Homes and Balfour Beatty Homes, started a career in the property industry in 1988.
She says her new role is challenging, but adds that it is also enjoyable. "I have taken on a good challenge in joining Charles Church, one which I am looking forward to embracing," she explains. "I am looking forward to getting to know my new sales team and working with them. I feel that Charles Church is a housebuilder with a good reputation, and I am looking forward to a long future with the company."
Octagon have recruited two new land directors. Paul Kilbane and Matt Gill will handle sectors of the company's extended southern and North London regions.
Kilbane, previously land director with a national chain of estate agents, comments: " I have worked closely with Octagon as my client in the past, so I fully understand the company ethos and strategy. My role is to intensify land acquisitions in prime locations south of the river, as the company is in the enviable position of having a continued strong demand from potential purchasers for our high end properties."
Gill has been brought into the company's Mill Hill offices, with the brief to take Octagon into prime parts of the eastern home counties. He has a Bsc in property and surveying and has been involved with land acquisition in the south east for over six years.
