Funding announced for Welsh workers

Welsh Assembly Government The Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) has announced funding for a £70 million three-year project to raise the skills of the workforce in some of the most disadvantaged areas. This incentive aims to increase the levels of qualifications and literacy, leading more people to find employment and choose to stay in their locality, creating more demand for housing in the area.
The Modern Apprenticeship World Class Skills project will provide more than 22,500 training places, equipping thousands of people with the skills they need to progress in employment and meet the skills needs of employers. Funding of £40 million will come from the European Social Fund, with the WAG providing £30 million.

This financial injection investing in the future professionals of Wales may encourage more young adults to invest in property there, rather than looking for other options.

Steve Turner of the House Builders Federation says: “The government needs to be taking steps to reverse the current situation [of housing undersupply] so that the professionals of the future can get the houses that they aspire to own.”
