Boris appoints Westminster Council leader
Boris Johnson has announced that the leader of Westminster Council Sir Simon Milton will be joining his team as senior adviser on planning next month.Milton (pictured), who previously had a rather stormy relationship with former Mayor Ken Livingstone, said: “My excitement at the chance to work in pan-London government is tempered by my sadness at leaving behind my current role. Westminster Council is without doubt the best council in the country and I am proud of the contribution I have made in achieving that reputation. I hope that I can bring some of the Westminster standard of efficiency, effectiveness and innovation to the government of London.”
Johnson, who made the appointment yesterday in City Hall, commented: “I promised during the election campaign that I would be backed up by a strong team of advisers who will help me deliver my agenda of change for London. Simon Milton is an experienced public servant who has a fantastic record of delivery in local government.”
