Bricks of gold
Keith Miller of the Miller Group is the wealthiest housebuilder in Britain, with a fortune of £730 million, according to The Sunday Times Rich List published yesterday.However Miller and his family saw their wealth fall by £80m over the last year and are 101st in the money league, which is led by steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal, worth £27.1 billion. Last year Miller Homes was crowned Housebuilder of the Year at the What House? Awards.
One place behind Miller is David Wilson, who sold his eponymous housebuilding company to Barratt last year for £2.2 billion. Wilson and his family's wealth is estimated at £729m.
Other housebuilders in the list of the richest 1,000 people in Britain include Peter Jones of Emerson, John Bloor of Bloor Holdings, Terry Bramall who sold his stake in Keepmoat last year, former Redrow boss Steve Morgan, Stewart Milne, Remo Dipre, the McCarthy family, Michael Shanly, Persimmon founder Duncan Davidson and Tony Pidgley of Berkeley.
