Vaillant has been chosen to fit 500 homes in York as part of a programme to upgrade the city's housing in line with the council's Decent Homes initiative. The firm's ecoTEC pro-28 combination boiler aims to have minimal breakdown levels, while delivering instant hot water at a constant temperature in an eco-friendly manner. "As part of our commitment to Decent Homes, we've signed a renewable exclusive relationship with Vaillant, using their boilers to replace outdated or faulty boilers across our housing stock," said Maurice Howard, the City of York's capital programme manager. "These boilers rarely break down, while the company offers excellent back-up support, if we need it."
British Gas Housing Services is installing the boilers, after attending a course at Vaillant's training centre. "This meant we were familiar with the boilers before we began work," said Neil Halliday, British Gas' contracts manager. "The boilers regularly get good feedback on the cards we leave for City of York customers to fill in."
The boiler comes with a one-year guarantee.

Sandtoft Roof Tiles is working on an eco project with Dundee City Council, following its recent switch to using 100 per cent green electricity.
Dundee's council, one of the first local authorities to achieve IS014001 accreditation, is renovating a 40-year old house to showcase the latest sustainable technology, materials and practices.
The existing janitor's house, located on the grounds of a primary school, was originally built in the 1960s, and performs poorly on the heating front.
It is now set to get something of a facelift by the council's architectural services department, which will install geothermal underfloor heating and a wind turbine on site, while restructuring the property around a timber frame with insulation made from recycled newspaper. Sandtoft's Cassius roof tiles will be installed on the newly revamped eco-home's roof, selected on the basis of the firm's eco-credentials, says Bob Anderson, a spokesman from the council's architectural services department. "The company's commitment to sustainable practices sat comfortably with the aims of the project," he told the press. "A further benefit to Cassius, beyond its sustainable exterior, was the product's aesthetics - the antique slate-coloured tiles look great."
"It's an honour to be involved in such a high-profile project," added Nick Oldridge, Sandtoft's sales and marketing director. "Greener products and methods have been at the heart of our approach, so it's good that we're receiving wider recognition."
When completed, the eco-house will be occupied by Solar Cities Scotland, a Dundee-based firm which promotes renewable energy use and efficiency, for three years, and will be open to the public, schools, universities, colleges and professionals.

French radiator manufacturer Cinier has selected Aestus to sell its products in the UK and Ireland.
Joining Aestus' range of stainless steel and granite radiators, heated towel rails and benches, Cinier's stone radiator designs are made from Olycale stone, a white rock sourced from the Pyrenees, which is broken down and then restructured to diffuse heat.
"Aestus is delighted to welcome Cinier on board," said Geoff Jones, Aestus' director. "This unique product will sit well with today's trend for work-of-art heaters that make a statement in the home. As the desire for minimal interiors wanes, these radiators maintain a clean, modern look, but with a touch of organic design that is easier on the eye, and more comfortable to live with."
