Lightweight steel roof tile manufacturer Decra has enhanced its Elegance range of tiles with the introduction of two new coatings. The first coating contains high levels of Teflon and silicon to create a non-stick, water-repellent surface with self-cleaning properties. The coating aids rainwater runoff, which takes dirt and residue from the roof surface, thus increasing the life of the roof.
The second coating helps to prevent the sun's infrared rays from being absorbed, lessening the need for air conditioning in converted roof spaces during warmer months.
Both coatings are non-toxic and environmentally friendly so any rainwater runoff can be harvested.
The Elegance tile is less than one-eighth the weight of a traditional clay or concrete tile. The flexible powder coating means the tile can easily be bent and cut without stress fracturing or flaking. Elegance is available in three colours, terracotta, mocha and black as well as bespoke colours to order.

The firm's new range also offers a line of eco-friendly dishwashers, laundry appliances, fridges and freezers.
"There have been incredible developments in kitchen design over the past few years," says Richard Walker, De Dietrich's sales and marketing director. "Here, we've created unusual and more bespoke products that are technologically advanced but also eco-friendly to make life easier for the user."

Rayburn has gone eco-friendly with the launch of the Rayburn 345W wood burner.
Approved by HETAS, the official government-recognised body that approves solid fuel domestic heating appliances, the oven runs on wood only via a grate designed specifically for cooking and heating.
The 345W has a maximum boiler output of 45,000 British Thermal Units per hour suitable for heating six to eight average-size radiators.
Similarly, Aga, which manufactures Rayburn, has unveiled its range of biofuel-ready cookers. Before such fuels become widely available, the cookers can run on either oil or diesel. However, modifications will need to be made to the burner once biofuels, a renewable energy fuel that derives from biomass such as cow manure, are mass-produced. The firm recently installed a five-kilowatt wind turbine at its factory in Telford, which it is using to research alternative energy sources for its products.
